Set template properties in the template management UI

Is it possible to add properties to a template so that when creating an item with that template, these properties appear automatically, rather than having to add manually? Thanks!

When creating the template add the properties to the notes as an Org mode property drawer. In the below example the property effort will be added to the item created from the template with a default value of 0:
